1. What is Laser Mission?
Laser Mission is a company that runs a revolutionary new outdoor, team-based combat game commonly called 'Laser Combat'. Laser Combat is a lso known as 'electronic paintball' and similar in concept to paintball games. Players also get the opportunity to use a variety of weapons.

Our missions are designed to encourage kids to work together as a team. Missions may have FBI, spy, extra terrestrial or 'mad scientist' themes, as well as military-style scenarios. All missions and scenarios are played in either woodlands or urban settings, for example hotel grounds, a former underground nuclear bunker or scout camps.

Our weapons vary in size, weight, ammo allowance and shooting range. Players shoot an invisible and harmless infrared beam similar to the one used in your TV remote control. The sound effects are extremely realistic so you know when you have been shot or dying and the highly intelligent software in our weapons will ensure no cheating takes place! Depending on the package we may also offer an extended range of equipment such as sniper's rifles, night vision goggles, gas masks and walkie-talkies, depending on your missions.

2. Who can play Laser Mission?
Army cadets, scouts, young farmers, boys' brigade, girl guides, air cadets, youth clubs, schools, explorer scouts, youth sports team or even teams made up of friends, family or neighbours.

Laser Mission is open to any group of young persons, aged 11 and above. Often families like to play too - including Grandpa! Fitness levels are not a major issue as everyone can play to a level that they find comfortable. We have different sized weapons to choose from so we match you up accordingly.

3. How do the weapons work exactly?
There is no paint, no mess, and no projectiles, so you can be sure that your kids are playing in safety.

The game system has been built around a safe, robust and reliable high-tech infrared combat system with weapons modelled on the Pulse Rifle from the film 'Aliens'. Laser Mission guns' range outstrips paintball markers or airsoft guns. The rifles have an integrated grenade launcher/ scatter gun round. Our weapons are formidable due to their light weight and manoeuvrability. With an effective range in excess of 150 meters, realistic digitised sounds and multiple modes of fire this is technology with attitude!

We have a selection of guns for use. The guns we use include: Spitfires, Scorpions, Commando Carbines, M4s, Pulse rifles and Morita Sniper Rifle. The scopes range from 85 metres up to an incredible 170 meters. The size and weight of weapon issued to you will depend on your age/size/fitness etc. and will be evened up across the competing teams to make it fair. The kit is the best available on the market. We also have Claymore Mines for ambushing your enemy with. You'll love their sound effects!

4. How many staff will you have to supervise the children?
One per team (typical teams size =10 players). We increase staff numbers for larger groups. We ask youth leaders or parents to accompany younger players for additional security and to join in the game. Adults love Laser Mission as much as the kids do!

We ensure that Mission Leaders running youth events have been checked by the Criminal Records Bureau and have First Aid training.

5. How safe is it?
There are no projectiles so there is no pain and no bruises to worry about. The risks to players are only the same as to anyone playing outdoors, (e.g. trip hazards, low branches, stings etc).

We run a Health & Safety briefing before the mission starts and it is the responsibility of every player to adhere to the rules, for their own safety. We cannot guarantee an accident won't happen but we can guarantee that we do everything we can to minimise the risks. And if an accident does happen, our first aid trained staff will be on hand.

6. I am not keen on kids shooting each other, and playing war games - I am worried it will encourage violence.
Laser Combat is a fun outdoors sport that kids really enjoy, and we find that kids benefit from the exercise and outdoors experience, rather than sitting indoors, shooting each other in computer games. In a Laser mission environment we do not tolerate violence or foul play. It's a no contact sport.

Secondly, and most importantly, it is a team building game - there is no individual scoring. Teams must plan and work together which is a real bonding experience. The kids that leave Laser Mission leave with huge grins - not pent up aggression or frustration.

7. Do your staff have experience with children?
Yes. We believe in having fun but doing it safely. Our Mission Leaders have various backgrounds from Scout leaders, nursery nurses and ex-cadets - and of course some of them are Mums and Dads themselves! They are big kids themselves and some of them are 40+ !!! We would never staff an event with someone who doesn't get on with kids and who wasn't mature enough at the same time to handle the responsibility.

8. What happens when I get there?
Your party will be welcomed by our very professional team, and issued with camouflage gear, equipment and guns. After an Equipment & Safety Briefing, your Mission Leader will go through the various scenarios and games you will play.

During your sessions, you will play several different games and scenarios. In cold weather we have heaters at the briefing tent or log fires to warm you up in between missions and hot drinks.

9. What do I wear/bring?
We recommend that you wear loose fitting clothing such as combats or tracksuit bottoms and a long sleeved t-shirt. Please bring hiking boots or sturdy footwear . (Trainers can be dangerous and slippy in the mud.) You should, of course, try to keep to camouflage or neutral tones, so that it's not too easy for your enemy to spot you! We insist players do not roll up trouser legs and sleeves as they can get stung, splinters, cuts etc. Some of our packages include uniform hire, or you may wish to hire camouflage coveralls from us at £3 pp (you will need to pre-order). Or you could consider your own team uniform.

Laser Missions can be very hot and sweaty because the adrenalin really gets going. You may wish to bring sun-cream in warm weather. You will find bringing several thin layers rather than one thick jumper more practical. You might get chilly later on as you calm down! Remember to bring gloves with you in Autumn/Winter.

It's very important to remember to bring your liability waiver forms, signed by the parent or guardian of each player. Unfortunately without them, players will not be able to take part.

You may wish to bring some money with you too, as we sell chocolates, crisps, etc. in our Quartermaster's store. We also sell combat t-shirts, baseball caps etc. Don't bring jewellery; it might give away your position. Laser Mission London will not be responsible for any loss, theft or accident to players or their property.

10. Are there any hidden costs, such as having to buy extra ammo?
No! Your marshal will load up your gun with enough lives to get you through your game. Laser Mission provides players with everything they need for the event, and unlike paintball, all the necessary ammunition is included in the price.

11. What happens if it is raining?
We play in all types of weather (sun, snow, rain or hail); however we do recommend that you bring a change of clothing with you. We can provide waterproof ponchos, but they tend to be adult sizes. We will stop play if there is an electric storm for safety reasons.
